The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving are a busy time for just about everyone. This does not exclude Hartford Athletic, which recently broke ground on the $14m Dillon Stadium project.
With the project set to finalize in May of 2019, it will feature a synthetic FieldTurf field and 5,500 bleacher seats. The FieldTurf technology will be the first of its kind in North America, and the pitch will be used not just by the club, but by youth soccer, and for other sporting events such as lacrosse according to CEO Bruce Mandell. The stadium will be able to be expanded to upward of 10,000 seats if fan interest grows and continues to remain high.
The stadium isn’t the only news the club has been sitting on. According to sources, the club has already signed 16 new players, including 6 internationals, although their names have yet to be released. The announcement is set to take place in the coming weeks according to Mandell.
